Chapter 4.3: Combat - The Hospital

I've had several questions lately about how the hospital works, so in answering the questions I put together this chapter.

What is "The Hospital"?

The hospital is an area for weakened players to recover where they cannot be attacked. This is to prevent repeated kills of recovering vampires. Without the hospital, someone is killed, then they regenerate a couple hit points, and then they are attacked and killed again. They regenerate a few more hit points and boom, they are attacked and killed again in one hit. Not very fair, is it?

The Hospital is also a link that you can click on to heal your vamp of all damage for 1000 Blood. This has no time limit or any other penalty associated with it beyond the 1000 blood. It is great for fighting, and to keep yourself alive when you know you are on the hitlist. When I find out I'm on the hit list I just keep clicking on the hospital to make them really work for it! Although this is probobly not good for my stats..

Traditionally (meaning with some other games) a person goes to the hospital when they get under 20 health (NOTE: this is the amount for other games, I have not found a way to test if this is the exact number that ROV uses.) When they are in the hospital, they cannot be targetted or attacked.
Once you are in the hospital, you will remain there until you log back on. Even if your back up to full health, you will remain in the hospital until you log on. Yes this means that if you leave the game, and stop playing, you will be in the hospital forever after the first person attacks you.

You cannot elect to "stay in the hospital" via a button or function in the game. Clicking on the hospital link in the health bar allows you to heal yourself to full health for 1000 blood. That is all. It doesn't have anything to do with "being in the hospital" or anything.

Here are some of the questions, along with the answers.
Q: Does the game automatically send you to the hospital at a preset point?
A: Yes I believe it is 20, however further research needs to be done.

Q: Does it release you at another preset point? A: Yes, Judging by the way VW does it, you will become available for your attack the next time you log on.

Q: Can we click on hospital and hospitalize ourselves?
A: No. Clicking on the hospital only heals you.

Q: How do we know when we are in the hospital?
A: If you are online, you are most likely not in the hospital. Most of the time that you are off line will probobly be spent in the hospital, as chances are high that you will be attacked in the meantime.

Q: Is there a preset point at which we die?
A: Yes. 0 Hit points means you are dead.

Q: Should we be buying health when we get into a certain range?
A: No, I advise against buying health because it is so cheap to heal and has no recharge time between uses.

Q: If our health is low does that enter into our combat stats? I have more weaponry and a higher level but my health is at 30 and the other player is at 100 so I lose because I'm sick?
A: Interesting question, but I do not believe so. I have seen no evidence that your health influences your combat ability in this, or any other game I've played.

Q: Can we fight while in the hospital?
A: I've started fights at below 20 health, so this lends some strength to the argument that you don't go into the hospital when online.

The information provided here is incorrect. I have been attacked and put in the hospital while I had the game closed. Later was attacked again several times and put into the hospital again. If you don't leave the hospital until the next time you logon, this cannot be possible. This game is NOT VW. Your blood also accumulates while you have the game closed so anyone attacking can take your blood even though you have banked it before leaving.
So now this game is dead ... to me. I will not be following it when it falls off fb.

Although I do not doubt the veracity of your observations, I'm curious how you knew that you were in the hospital when you were offline? I haven't seen any notifications from the game that alert you when you are in the hospital or even killed.

I know that the game is not VW, however there are many similarities. Many people playing ROV has not played VW, or even any other game of this nature. I am attempting to give the best information I can though either similar games and personal observation. I do not proclaim to know all about the game. I try to point out all information that is based on hypothesis from other games, and invite those who have experienced differences to discuss this.

I'm sorry to hear that your leaving the game. I can confirm that it works much better and smoother off of FB than it ever did on it.

hi, can you explain the "punch" part? what's that for? thanks :)

great site btw!

Hi Nes,

Sure thing. The punch is just a way to get back at your opponent without having to fight them. It costs you a stamina point, but does not get you any blood or xp for the fight. You will do a very small amount of damage to your opponent, however I do not think you can either kill or claim a hit list bounty by punching. It's just kind of a way to say, "Hey, thanks for being a jerk" to someone. Kind of pointless really, IMHO.

You're in hospital for about an hour, it has nothing to do whether you are logged on or not.

When you're in hospital, you can continue your attacks, or improve your attack, defense, enhancements...

Hi. I just want to note a big thank you to Anathama for compiling the information provided to us. No matter what others think, it is very helpful. Again, thanks. ~t

Hi Bill, I have admittedly not read through all your threads so please forgive me if this question has been answered. Can you kill yourself? If you do not automatically go into the hospital while online and you sustain damage while attacking others, theoretically you could kill yourself. If you do, does your opponent get a kill? Thanks! Here are a couple of observations that I thought were interesting.

First, did you know that you can attack yourself when you are on the hit-list? Not sure why you'd want to, but you can!

Also when on the hit list, if you attack someone and drop below 20 then you leave the hitlist until you recover (then automatically get put back on). The only practical help I can see for this was that instead of having to press the hospital button every couple of minutes I could do this and go make a cup of tea in complete safety.
